DIY Geometric Washi Tape Wreath for Fall
Looking for a simple and fun fall DIY idea? We know it’s almost winter, but this is worth turning back the season a bit. If you are also looking to make something that is trendy, this geometric washi tape wreath should be right up your alley. Geometric patterns are all the rage these days, especially when it comes to home decor. Through this fun and quick seasonal project, we will pay tribute to the ever-so-chic octagons. And we get to play with washi tapes, too!
First off, if you don’t know what washi tapes are, Pinterest has the answer. Basically, they are similar to masking tape but with designs. They come in various widths and are quite perfect for all sorts of craft projects.
For our DIY geometric washi tape project, you can also use other decorative tapes and stickers. Fabric and paper tapes will do, too. As long as they come in fall colors and motifs, they will be useful for our fun wreath DIY.
Other supplies that you will need are illustration board, scissors, cardboard, hot glue, and ribbon.
1. Cut your illustration board into octagon shapes. You will need 8. The size is up to you. Bigger octagons will require a good number of washi tapes. It follows that your wreath will be bigger, too.
2. Cover each octagon with strips of washi tape. Again, if you choose fall colors, you will not have a problem with the pairing or general design. Oranges, browns, yellows, and reds look wonderful together, no matter how you combine them.
3. Once you’ve covered each octagon with washi tape strips, set them aside. Take the cardboard and cut a circular piece that will serve as your fall wreath base. Tie a ribbon like so:
4. Turn your washified octagons upside down. They should form a circle. With hot glue slathered on the cardboard wreath base, slowly and carefully attach it to the upside down geometric pieces. Press and let dry.
5. You’re done! Hang and enjoy.
