LOS ANGELES (June 3, 2014) – Bandai America Incorporated and Sync Beatz Entertainment today announced that the innovative apparel company Evy of California will be applying its KuKee™ technology, which provides consumers with a customized interactive augmented reality (AR) experience, to Bandai’s girls-targeted Tamagotchi® Friends™ fashion line. The relationship between Bandai and Evy was forged as part of the new Tamagotchi brand licensing program which includes Tamagotchi L.i.f.e.™ as well as Tamagotchi Friends. For the first time, fans of Tamagotchi will be able to utilize KuKee - a fun, free app that activates unique AR on iOS devices - to unlock an enhanced experience which creates animated Tamagotchi-like characters. By simply downloading the KuKee app and scanning the unique marker embedded in a creative line of Tamagotchi-branded fashion apparel, as well as markers featured on a collectible poster available in packages of Bandai’s new Tamagotchi Friends product line, consumers can create customized illustrated self-portraits complete with distinctive Tamagotchi Friends fashion elements on a digital Dream School student ID card, which they can share via social media. Bandai’s all-new Tamagotchi Friends Digital Friends device represents the newest iteration of the popular digital toy. The iconic egg-shaped devices feature fashionable trend-inspired designs on the outside, along with new characters to raise in new experiences on the inside. One of the most unique features of the new Digital Friends device, distinctive from the classic Tamagotchi toys of years past, is an all-new short range communication function enabling owners to “bump” another Digital Friends device. This allows the characters to go on play dates and interact with characters outside their own device, as well as allowing owners to share texts with friends. This new product line will launch in the U.S. and Canada in the 3rd Quarter of 2014. Branded markers will also be part of the Evy of California Tamagotchi Friends clothing line, adding to the interactive experience that has been associated with the Tamagotchi brand since its introduction in 1996. This fall, Evy of California will release a new fashion line of girls’ apparel incorporating its KuKee technology along with artwork and imagery inspired by the digital egg-sperience that launched a worldwide sensation and sold 79 million Tamagotchi devices. Evy’s new line of active wear, dresses, fleece, T-shirts, pants, shorts, skirts and sweaters is targeted to be rolled out at U.S. and Canadian retailers later this year. Always at the cutting edge of design, Evy of California first implemented KuKee in 2013. Its “Activated Apparel” line uses augmented reality to provide consumers with an engaging added value through an integrated digital layer of technology. “Since its beginning, the Tamagotchi brand has been known for innovation in the interactive space,” said Paul Fish, Senior Vice President, Brand Management, Bandai America Incorporated. “Wearable technology such as ’Smart Clothes’ are the future. We’re excited to have the chance to continue to create a fresh and fuller experience for our fans using KuKee technology through our partnership with the truly fashion-forward Evy of California.” “We are excited about creating a seamless experience between the core toy functionality and a truly novel consumer products approach,” said Jeffrey Fisher, VP of Licensing, Strategic Marketing and New Business Development, Evy of California. “It’s about having fun and creating unique product offerings that expand our company’s creativity.” For more information on the brand and upcoming apps, visit the Website at http://TamagotchiFriends.com/. New Tamagotchi L.i.f.e “Tap and Hatch” App Launches for iOS and Android Devices

(March 26, 2014) – Tokyo-based Bandai Co., Ltd. and Los Angeles-based Sync Beatz Entertainment today named multi-talented actress Jennette McCurdy to serve as the official Brand Ambassador for Tamagotchi L.i.f.e., the lifestyle line of products inspired by the iconic handheld toy.

The popular performer, best known for her role as Sam Puckett on the hit Nickelodeon shows iCarly and Sam & Cat, will become the face of Tamagotchi L.i.f.e., representing the property and participating in a marketing campaign that will reach fans of her work as well as the millions of young adults who grew up loving the Tamagotchi brand. McCurdy will play an active role in promoting Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. through her impressive social media fan base as well as through conventional media, and host the winner of the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Tap and Hatch “Win a Spa Day With Jennette McCurdy in Hollywood!” Sweepstakes, which kicks off with today’s announcement.

McCurdy began her television career guest starring on several hit shows including MADtv, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Malcolm in the Middle, and Will & Grace before landing the role of Sam Puckett alongside Miranda Cosgrove in Nickelodeon’s iCarly.

Most recently, 4.8 million fans welcomed McCurdy and Sam & Cat into their homes weekly, tuning in to new episodes of the series which centers on the girls becoming roommates and starting their own babysitting business. A strong believer in giving back to the community, Jennette also uses her star power to draw attention to philanthropic campaigns such as Invisible Children Inc. and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“I am so excited to be working with Tamagotchi L.i.f.e., a brand that brings to mind such great memories from my childhood,” said McCurdy.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jennette to the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. family,” said Naruo Uchida, CEO, Sync Beatz Entertainment. “She encompasses everything our brand is about, making her the perfect representative. She’s stylish, fun and has a real commitment to pro-social/charitable activity – just like our fans.”

This alliance comes on the same day that the iOS release of the new freemium app, Tamagotchi L.i.f.e: Tap and Hatch launches. Already available for Android devices, Tap and Hatch, developed by Tokyo-based Namco Bandai Games, assembles over 110 adorable Tamagotchi characters – introduced throughout the popular toy’s rich 17-year history – to create a unique puzzle adventure. The premise is simple: connect three blocks to make them disappear and help your Tamagotchi grow. The more blocks cleared, the more your Tamagotchi advances, which also unlocks additional collectible characters. The app contains more than 100 levels and incorporates a social media tool which enables users to engage friends in cooperative play.

Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Tap and Hatch follows the successful 2013 launch of the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. app (generating more than 3 million downloads) and, most recently, the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Angel app, an authentic recreation of the second most popular series of all time with a contemporary spin. Tap and Hatch is the latest entry in the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. brand, a line of lifestyle products that embodies the spirit and attributes of that original experience and targets its original Tamagotchi user base, who, today, are active young adults.

Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Tap and Hatch is now available for download in the iTunes Store http://bit.ly/1jCToQs as well as in the Google Play Store http://bit.ly/1nXP9oC

Popular “Angel” Series Reborn in Free App for U.S. & Canada Featuring Joan Jett and The Blackhearts’ “Any Weather”

TOKYO & LOS ANGELES-(February 13, 2014)-Following the 3,000,000th download of their first app, Bandai Co., Ltd. and Sync Beatz Entertainment today announced the upcoming release of its FREE new Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Angel app, which recreates the original Tamagotchi Angel digital handheld game series, for iOS and Android devices in the U.S. and Canada.

Based on one of the most popular Tamagotchi series after the original release of 1996/Japan and 1997/U.S., the iOS version of the Angel app will be launched on Wednesday, February 26th, with the Android version expected to also become available that day.

The Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Angel app will feature changeable play modes, allowing players to care for their Angels in the classic eggshell TOY mode or full screen in APP mode. The free app offers a multitude of Angel characters and new color environments; updated Life, Happiness, Hunger and Effort meters; a new technical feature which enables the screen to be tapped to scare away flying bats; 22 new in-app wallpapers and eight wallpapers for use on the player’s device; 12 shell choices; an image gallery and fun mini-games. Additionally, the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Angel app enables users to post photos of the Tamagotchis they’re raising on Facebook.

New music is another unique feature of the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Angel app. For the first time ever, the legendary Joan Jett is allowing “Any Weather,” the lead single from Joan Jett and The Blackhearts’ long-awaited and highly praised new album, Unvarnished, to be included in a game-based app. The multi-platinum recording artists’ single, “Any Weather,” co-written and performed with Dave Grohl, has been integrated into the new Angel mini-game for Tamagotchi fans to enjoy. Unlike the original, this 2014 instrumental version introduces music throughout the Angel-raising experience.

The new app follows the successful 2013 launch of the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. app, an authentic recreation of the classic Tamagotchi game with a contemporary spin, which has generated 3,000,000 downloads. It’s the latest entry in the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. brand, a line of lifestyle products that embodies the spirit and attributes of that original experience and targets its original Tamagotchi user base, who, today, are active young adults.

“We are so delighted to bring back in app form one of the most popular Tamagotchi series, the Tamagotchi Angel, to capture the imagination of young fans across America, just as the original did back in 1997,” said Naomi Tobita, Chief Tamagotchi Officer at Bandai Co., Ltd. “The apps, licensed Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. apparel now available from Mighty Fine and coming this fall from Evy of California, and the new Tamagotchi Friends toy line coming to North America later this year, are the latest examples of the rapid growth of the Tamagotchi brand.”

Following the launch of its Website (www.tamagotchifriends.com) this past November 23rd (the 17th anniversary of the original Tamagotchi), the new Tamagotchi Friends toy line will make its U.S. debut in the Bandai America showroom at the 111th annual American International Toy Fair® in New York City next week (February 16th – 19th).

I wanted to share this great slideshow from BuzzFeed, remember the days when we carried our Tamagotchis everywhere. Was your day anything like this, growing up?

A Day In The Life Of You And Your Tamagotchi

You weren’t living until you had one of these.

You woke up and checked your Tamagotchi. Rise and shine little guy!

You woke up and checked your Tamagotchi. Rise and shine little guy!

He was hungry. It was time for the first meal of the day.

And then poop #1.

On the bus ride to school you got to spend some quality time with your tiny friend.

Mostly he just bobbed around on the screen.

But bobbing is tiring! So it took a nap while you were in class.

Oh cool, your Tamagotchi pooped again while you were in history, and then it hated you.

But you cleaned it up, and he took a shower…

So it was happy again!

And then it just looked at you with it’s tiny little eyes.

So you fed it…

…and it EVOLVED and grew that beak thing!

And then you guys had to play some games together so that it got exercise and stayed fit.

OH DARN. The teacher saw you and told you to put it away or she’ll confiscate it.

After class you checked on it, it had pooped again .

OH NO IT WAS TOO MUCH POOP. IT WAS GETTING SICK.

And then…IT DIED.

Off to Tamagotchi heaven it went.

And then all you could do is reset it and start again.

And wait for your next friend to hatch.

The End.

Tamagotchis Are Back!

You fed him, cleaned up after him and cried when he died.

He was basically your best friend, wasn’t he?

WELL IT’S TIME FOR A REUNION.

Tamagotchis Are Back!

Bandai is launching a new model under the Tamagotchi Friends brand in 2014.

The new models will allow owners to “bump” with other Tamagotchi owners in order to send texts, exchange gifts and go on dates. They’ll cost £24.99.

Just like ’90s Tamagotchis, they’ll be egg-shaped, have dot matrix screens and be controlled by three buttons.

Bandai Co., Ltd. and Sync Beatz Entertainment Awards $5000 to 17-Year-Old Brooklyn, NY Student

TOKYO and LOS ANGELES (December 20, 2013) – The caring and nurturing spirit emblematic of the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. brand is once again being celebrated as its fans have selected 17-year-old Francesca Chaney and her non-profit “Girls Advocating and Innovating the Nation” (G.A.I.N.) organization as the winner of the latest edition of its bi-monthly Hometown Heroes program.

For receiving the largest amount of votes in the latest competition, Bandai Co., Ltd. and Sync Beatz Entertainment are awarding a $5,000 contribution to Ms. Chaney and the Brooklyn, NY-based group she launched in 2011. With its roots as a mentoring program to help younger girls facing self-esteem issues, the G.A.I.N. mission took on a more ambitious agenda when recognizing the need to address more issues in local communities. As a result, they provide young women with the tools and resources to speak up and allow their voices to be heard on topics of their concern and address issues together, empower each other, and positively innovate their society. Their motto is “Every Girl Must Gain.” Through weekly discussions, community outreach, and empowerment workshops for youth, G.A.I.N. has positively impacted the lives of thousands of youth.

To further motivate members, the organization has established the “Quest Awards” to honor youth making positive strides in their communities through arts, activism, and cultural contributions. With an eye on becoming a global movement, G.A.I.N. has even hosted a Tour for Peace in Belize, the birthplace of Francesca’s mother.

Ms. Chaney keeps an impressive full schedule which includes her pursuit of a degree in Anthropology at Purchase College of the State University of New York, along with her work as an aspiring actress, Pop/R&B singer and songwriter. She has served as the Student Representative for the New York Citywide Council on High Schools (CCHS) in the 2012-13 school year, as an advocate for New York City public high school students, and earned a Scholarship for the Emerging Leaders Summer Program which took her to South Africa in June.

Brooklyn, NY (December 23, 2013) – 17-year-old Francesca Chaney (top right), founder of Girls Advocating and Innovating the Nation (G.A.I.N.), a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization which empowers young women to address topics of concern in their community, a forum to address issues together, and to positively innovate society, has been voted the latest Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Hometown Heroes award winner and recipient of its $5000 cash award. She is joined by fellow G.A.I.N. members Maassai Collier (top left), Helen Barnes (bottom left) and Tia Jones (bottom right) in celebrating their recognition from Bandai Co., Ltd.

“When you’re building a relationship with younger girls, you have to be an active listener,” said Ms. Chaney. “Everyone needs someone who will listen to them. G.A.I.N. Global Movement is a gift to girls worldwide, providing them with a voice and the tools necessary to stimulate change in this society. We are raising the standards for the way girls are perceived in all aspects.

I am truly honored for this acknowledgement. A heartfelt thank you to Bandai Co., Ltd., Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. and Sync Beatz Entertainment for your generosity. Thanks also to my family, my G.A.I.N. Team and all my supporters. I could not have done it without you.”

“We offer our warmest congratulations to Francesca and thank our enthusiastic Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. fans who participated in the voting process to select our latest Hometown Heroes winner,” said Naruo Uchida, CEO of Sync Beatz Entertainment. “The work that she’s doing with G.A.I.N is making a measurable difference in the futures of thousands of young women, and will empower them for success for years to come.”

“Hometown Heroes” is an ongoing program of the new Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. (Love Is Fun Everywhere) lifestyle brand. Its goal is to encourage and recognize pro-social activity by enabling visitors to the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Website to nominate people in their communities who have selflessly committed time and effort to improve the quality of life for those in need.

Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. recognizes the highest scoring nominee with a $5,000 donation to the charity of his/her choice, along with an inscribed Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Hometown Heroes Crystal Award acknowledging the work they’ve performed, which aligns with the caring aspect at the heart of the Tamagotchi® brand. Previous Hometown Heroes selected by popular vote include Carole Pearson’s The Dawg Squad; Lori Weise’s Downtown Dog Rescue; Dr. Sean Daneshmand’s Miracle Babies (financial assistance to families with critically ill newborns) and Stephanie J. Armstrong’s “Heart of Leadership” organization.
